I have been looking for a gooseneck trailer. I want a 2 horse straight load w/ some additional tack room. Total trailer length of 16-20’+ gooseneck. I am budgeting up to $10,000.
What brand names do people recommend? I know what I want (in specs) but need to know what to avoid out there. I have read pros and cons of various makes and would like to hear from the draft community. The only brand with consistent reviews seems to be the 4 star.
I am pulling with a Tundra: 5.7 liter V8 w/ tow package.
I would have horses up to 16.4 HH in the trailer.
Thank you,

I bought a used Kieferbuilt trailer in 1998. It was a 12′ bumper pull, all steel with a wooden floor and mats. Over the years I put roughly 10,000 miles on it, mostly in the winter and often on rough wood roads. It was a good trailer, but not durable enough for my application. I wound up spending over $2,000 repairing or replacing sheet metal, springs, shackles, lights etc. It is no longer road-worthy.
Lately, I have either driven the horses to the job and kept them in a hovel or hired a trailer. This works better for my budget.

Eventually it got rusty enough that I decided to replace it. Was v. happy w it. Replaced it last year w a 16′ GN Corn Pro, new, and although it was a big nut to swallow it is within your stated price range. I am v. happy w it so far.

Mark , where did you buy your corn pro?I am interested in buying something with lots of miles left before repairs. I plant to put about 6,000 miles on it the first year. I had an old bumper pull and was lucky to find a woman whose husband was a professional metal worker to buy it – cause that’s what it needed. He seemed excited for the project.
I would rather spend the money up front tbis time.July 28, 2015 at 9:48 pm #85874Mark CowdreyParticipantThe Cheshire Horse, Swanzey, nh
