This Saturday, 9/17/15, the Granite Museum in Barre, VT is having an open house, including food vendors, historical demos, farmers’ market, and more. The event runs from 10-4 and more information can be viewed on the website for the Granite Museum (vtgranitemusuem.org). I will be there with y horses demonstrating how animal power was used to move granite around the quarry sites. We will be using a stone boat, rather than wheels or tracked cars, which were more common, but the animal power will be on display during the day. Also, there will be a range of other mechanical tools used to move stone. This event should be good fun for one and all.

Here is the link to the UVM searchable photo archive, and some pics. I’m sure the Granite museum has these and plenty more.
Have a blast, Carl
