Hello to all,
Like requested (Jared) here are documents attached with info on European tool carriers. Those are old tool carriers models (hard to find).
Also new tool carriers are build:
In France a rebuild project has been made of a old tool carrier of Bucher (Swiss brand). It is called the “NeoBucher”.The (quite young) manufacturing company Schmitz from Germany is currently developing a 4 wheeled tool carrier.
Schaff mat Paerd (“Work with the horse”, a pro draft animal power organisation from Europe) has a project in the planning to design a modern tool carrier (I am a member and participating in designing the tool carrier).
And for more good insight on tool carriers, check Stephen Leslie’s new book.
What I like about these tool carriers is that one horse can cultivate multiple rows in one pass. And works undeep & close to the crops (precise mechanincal cultivation). And can interchange various tools.
Jared, there are 2 European tool carriers at Roxbury, a Melotte and a Kockerling (described in attachments). The frist mentioned works well on heavy soil and is heavier built to cultivate many rows in one pass. The Kockerling is more suitable for a light soil (and horse) for 2 or 3 rows in one pass.
Best,
Jelmer.

Stephen Leslie’s second book is a great source and covers allot on tool carriers.

I will try to get ahold of you with some questions after I see to tool carriers in person.January 5, 2016 at 12:12 pm #87121wally bParticipantHere is our G Haw tool carrier in use in oregon. I have a offset tongue so it can be used with one horse in the path and on the beds next to the edges of high tunnels.
It works good for 1-4 rows per 3 ft bed and is fully adjustable for width, height and has two battery operated hydraulic lift tool bars. Zero turn radius and quick attach implements without tools.
If someone wanted to draw the plans to scale I would publish them in one of the draft horse publications.Wally B

Looks like there was an upload error when both of you tried to post some really great content. Let me know if I can help you get this up on the site–if you send it to me via email, I can attempt to post it for you — daniel.b.grover@gmail.com.
