Geoff saltwater cowboyParticipantHi there, I am from a little farther south . I live north of Edmonton near Thorhild . We have shires too about 4 teams so if you are looking for added power we may have a team for sale . We mostly do sleigh rides and a few wagon train trips in the summer . This past summer we did a little trip on the old peace river landing trail from Athabasca to smith. It was about 80 km or so the first wagon train on that trail in over 100 yrs . We like to disc , harrow and sometimes seed with our horses about 10 acres.
Geoff saltwater cowboyParticipantHi there i dont have much to say on here because i am still learning all this fun stuff but i hear you can never lean it all .Just spent the weekend at Haying in the 30’s Malieg alberta . Thats a good place to see different equipment. I am from Thorhild area. and i know what your saying about the hay.

In fact my horse was in a clinic, and as I was hoping that non-surgical care would work because there was no way I would be able to pay for that, they released the gas, with a needle through the gut wall, that was causing the pressure that caused the twist, and then we let him roll. It worked, and gave me four more years with him, when he finally died of the same thing. He had colic at least once every year that I owned him, while the other horse never had one symptom managed exactly the same way.

we were on a trail ride and a horse in our group got twisted gut and a old horseman told us to pour beer into the horse . So we had nothing to lose only three beers and then we walked the horse untill the vet came . The vet said that the beer probably saved the horse.
Geoff saltwater cowboyParticipantHay Terry, Thanks for the pics my mower’s frame is broken where the pole attaches . Not sure where the handle was attached ,either on the pole or on the frame. So from the pic it ‘s on the frame
Thanks
