I think Geoff hit the hp number…. Going by the reports I read for the 2010 field days George , 25hp seems to be the number for the balers..
JohnjacParticipantI just couldnt stand it any longer Andy !!! the twitch in my left eye was getting worse.. John do you still have snow ?.. I have to say the kv bottom certainly pulls easy. Does exactly what it says in the ads:)…
JohnjacParticipantHi John.. My thoughts are with at this time ..As a parent with a daughter who is joining the RAF I can totally feel your concern. These guys an gals all say the same thing “its our job, we trained for this” God bless them all…
JohnjacParticipantGeoff if you ever make it over here you will be treated to a haggis !!! I believe it is an illegal food in the US.. I have converted a few Englishmen to this delicacy…. and im sure if you checked back a big percentage of you guys will have Scot or Irish blood somewhere… all the better for that, seeing as we invented…. let me think…. everything:D… boy a DAP get together would be something else wouldnt it !!!!..
JohnjacParticipantLeane is the sensible one in the family and isnt really into horses… total petrol head:D..
JohnjacParticipantIts funny but im a Scot who prefers Jack Daniels:D… no I for one do not think you are “off your head”.. I am beginning to think the days of the 18hand draft horse is numbered.. a bit like the big engine. A team of fells will amaze you with the work they can do. Good luck with it… where abouts in the Borders are you BTW.. I have a daughter at Kelso..
JohnjacParticipantHi Fellman.. Welcome from a fellow Scot. This is a great site with friendly folks and a ton of info. Enjoy..
JohnjacParticipantGood point Geoff.. I had no idea we produce 3000+ callories worldwide. Over here we couldnt get any grazing value early on and still get a crop at the end of season.. This forum is great for getting the pulse on others farming set up…
JohnjacParticipantThanks Geoff… I think:D… and i am thinking of changing breeds but cant get those western belgians over here… Simon and me are working on a cunning plan… more on that later….
JohnjacParticipantHi Geoff.. I can see where you are comming from but think about this.. where is it written that we are entitled to a power source that uses up land?. From where I am looking it seems to me the whole infrastructure we have built is non sustainable… Lets grow bio diesel so we can put it in trucks so we can ship farm produce hundreds of miles ???? if they can get it to grow on crap land that is no use for food producion then fine… but it wont. Yes the idea is a solution but only in the short term.. I know horses could never meet all the energy needs but for farming it is totally doable. been done before and I recon could be done again if needed but that wouldnt be a great thing either because of the lack of teamsters… big problems ahead I think….
JohnjacParticipantHey Liz.. glad you made it. My nagging paid off. Great bunch on here and a ton of knowlege…
JohnjacParticipantHi Marshall good to hear you again. Glad your on the mend and do what the doc says..Carls right… if you push it now, probs can happen years down the line..
JohnjacParticipantAh now thats a whole new bag of monkeys.. There are some top ox men an women on here but as a horse guy I dont see why it wont work…
JohnjacParticipantThe fall 2007 SFJ shows a double bunk for 8ft wood. The bolsters are 72″ apart and 7″ in from the ends with 48″ between the 2 middle bolsters.. hope that helps..
JohnjacParticipantThink we need to define theft guys.. we could break it down that all the gold in the Black hills was stolen.. all the farmland in the US was stolen like it or not..as was all the lands that made the British Empire.. the indiginous people were not poor before we got there but were made slaves to the “civilised” ways. All our percieved wealth is built on exploitation of poorer people up to a point. A man that works hard and pays his taxes an accumulates a lot of money is ok in my book.. however there are a lot of people in this world that are basicly gangsters.. look at how the mafia was able to get so big.. and a bigger bunch of lazy sons of bitches you will never find but hey .. governments allow them to flourish.. same over here and those triads are another bunch.. but they all hide behind so called legal ways to hide their stolen money by investing in stocks and shares and those are handled by lawyers that go home at night and pat themselves on the back about how good they are to be providing for their families !!!! knowing full well they are handling stolen money.. feel a headache comming on.. im away now to hitch some horses and chill out… BTW the Cuban regime may not be to everyones liking but they solved a problem
