I put the one with selenium in there and gave red cell up til this past weekend they haven’t touched the loose minerals since the red cell but have messed with the block some the act like they’ve got their mineral fix
Kenneth FParticipantI bought her at the abingdon, VA sale she was broke on his word but became a handful after a couple days here. She’s right pushy with the other horses also. I’ve got a very experienced work horseman helping me but I cant get down there often enough to suit me. he said she was full of grit, stamina, and heart but she was down right hateful said she has got away with a lot somewhere she is 10 yrs old.

I’m using the TSC brand it seems to have already made a difference I put a salt black with selenium in there also we are selenium deficient in our area
Kenneth FParticipantInteresting read that may be the whole problem. I got a block yesterday just to see what they would do. southern states minerals looked to be the same just a little less on some minerals.
Kenneth FParticipantWhat do I need to look for as a calcium source?
Kenneth FParticipantThanks for the replies I’m feeding southern states select feed 12%. the mare that’s really showing it is bred, I haven’t thought about it but I don’t guess a mare and foal would hurt. it’d probably help her I’m gonna check and see what southern states has for minerals.

Kenneth FParticipantI’m gonna check when I get home I’m almost positive it is horse but can’t find it on their website. now I’m second guessing my self.

I started with a mare and a gelding this past spring, got them a little better than green broke(of they where broke when I bought them LOL). I decided I wanted a team of mares so I could breed them if I decided to, I sold the gelding and bought another broke mare at the abingdon, VA sale. needless to say I don’t think she knew what a harness was we put her in front of a plow and it wasn’t purdy so I took her today and hooked her to a sled and we drove her a good while by herself and a little with her team mate a few hours of driving and man what a difference like a whole different horse I plan to drive her a few times this week and try plowing again.
