You’re describing exactly how foxes wiped out all of my chickens this summer. Every one taken in the open in broad daylight. If they were in a hurry they’d eat the head and viscera and come back for the rest after dark. The sneaky blankety-blanks were even smart enough to only come around when nobody was home. If my daughter hadn’t stayed home sick one day we never would have figured out what was going on.
Bad news is that now he knows a technique that works and he won’t quit ’till somebody kills him.
tirontcoParticipantYou might want to check out the ox yoke plans that Tillers has on their website. One feature that they suggest is mounting the ring to the yoke by means of four bolts through a steel plate that the ring is welded to. The plate has slots instead of round holes so the ring can be adjusted side to side.

Yep, still in business. http://peaveymfg.com/
tirontcoParticipantIn the book “Oxen, a Teamster’s Guide” Drew Conroy gives the average weight of mature, well-fed jersey oxen as 1600 pounds. I presume the breed standards for jersey’s are the same on both sides of the Atlantic.
