Not the best place to put this perhaps, but other threads seemed more important. Apparently Husky muffler bolts have tendency to come loose or fall out. Other than constantly checking them, which is now obvious; any other solutions? I have heard blue locktite, red locktite, no locktite? I will start to stock a spare set of bolts at home.

I use blue locktite on my Harley exhaust bolts with good success if that’s any help.

That is interesting, as I have been using three Husky saws for awhile now and never had those bolts come lose. In fact, I crushed the muffler on my 357 and had to put on a used one – I had a difficult time getting the bolts free to change it out. I have used blue locktite on threaded shoe studs for my horses and it works well. I imagine it would hold well there, and would be worth a try.

I found I was being soft and not doing them up tight enough on 272

Donn, if red locktite isn’t holding them in I would guess they are stripped. I would tack weld them. Shouldn’t take much, just a dot on one side of the bolt. You could easily grind off with a dremel and a cut-off wheel if need be. Or you could re-tap the holes and size up the bolts.

PS I have never had this problem on my 372 or my other Husky saws.

Red locktite may pull the threads out it if you have to remove the bolts. If the threads are stripped some times you can cheat in a fine thread bolt as a temporary fix did this on a few bolts over the years with good results. Eli
