Since the beginning of march I’m in training with my twin steers Fred and George. My daughters look for the names and last year was the “Harry-Potter-year”. They have their names depending on the “Weasley twins” in the Harry Potter stories. today I’m happy that they have English names, especially Fred, because the German “Fritz” sounds a little bit like “links” the German word for left.
Last week I yoked them up for the first time, each with his mother Bella, a very experienced and calm Draft cow (14 years old).
yesterday I yoked them up for the first time together, each at his place in the yoke. Each choosed his place in the yoke himself: last fall when they came into the barn, where they are tied, I considered where each of them should stand in the barn because Drew Conroy says they should stand in the barn like in the yoke. After some days of going out and in each found his place when tied up. And even so I yoked them up: Fred as near and George as off steer.
George was castrated by surgery when 2 months old, Fred, who was planned first for the freezer, was castrated by tong when he was 6,5 month old.
In april (21th) they will get 1 year old.
I did not feed them for maximum growth but for being lean. I estimate their weight to 650-700 pounds each. Before going on the pasture I will measure them again.
I have attached one pic. It shows them in the 6” training yoke beside her mother, my co-trainer.;)

with a sorry for my clumsy English

    Thank you Tim !
    Yes they are Pinzgauer.
If the sentence you wrote is not the only one you know in German, your German is as well as my English.;)
