A week a go Tuesday, I noticed that the top half of a tree in my front yard was dead. About a 25 foot oak. I got up the next morning, I still had my coffee dringing mocs on, I look up at the sky and wind. It blowing up a rain. I think I’ll run out to the barn, and get the husqvarna chain saw out. I’ll cut that tree low and quick between windy spells. Saws ready, front of the tree notched, to side knotches, one more, why is this saw slowing down to a stop. Why is the pul rope froze up. Why have I just toasted my second Husqvarna chain saw? I guess next week on my days off, I will go to the saw shop, and try the other brand, a Stihl. I don’t change brands easily. But I like my new Stihl. I went down in size. I’m not logging for a living. I need something for the farm and I stihl have a barn to build. And a chapel in the woods. I stihl have a chain saw. But it aint the Husky no more.

All I have ever used is Stihl chains saws for the last 30 years. I stihl have one that my wife bought me 28 years ago . It isn’t used much but if I need it, it Stihl fires right up.

I bought a used Husky 61 for $150…62 cords of wood ago. I like the balance and shape of the Husky more than the Stihl, but I only use it to put out firewood to sell…I also have had good Jonsereds – I guess {for me} it’s all in what’s comfortable (and affordable). Same with me trucks – I don’t really care about the brand, but more the value of that particular vehicle or saw.
