By the way, several of us have been developing an international horse loggers association….would you be interested in joining our discussions?
I think it would be good to get the perspective from downunder.Carl

I suspect it is not the same guy as Jason Cruse. This fellow and I have been communicating about the development of his work in NZ for a few years now. I can’t imagine that if he were in your home town and met one of your sons that he wouldn’t come up in the woods and see you working and meet you all in person. My take is that he is more serious than that and I assure you that if I ever make it over there your biggest concern will be me getting in your way…. although I would try to be useful, even if it were just moving brush from your trails. On that note the “handles” are confusing and there may be more than one person calling themselves Kiwi Horselogger. Because my work is connected to a Public Charity and I have no proprietorial ownership of that work or words describing it, I use my real name as well as a handle.
I am going to cut copy and paste a conversation we have been having about how Jason Cruse this Kiwi Horselogger is developing his business in NZ. I will post it in the DAPFI area, since I have been waiting for him to give me his permission to share the story. I am confident he will so I will share the story with that limited audience at this point, hopefully to inspire others to work similarly in their communities and countries.
Sincerely,

This guy also spoke about portable sawmilling to keith so lets see if it is the same guy.
simon lenihanDecember 1, 2009 at 11:13 pm #55778kiwiloggrParticipantNo Simon it was not me your son met i would have most definatly come and checked your operation out getting me to bugger off would have been the problem. One day when i get the time i would love to come visit you all.Hey Jason if you wanted to share our emails that would be great the way i type it would take me days to explain what im up to.And i would be very interested in any other discussion groups you guys have i have read everything i can find on the net to do with horse logging. The info i have got from you all has been priceless i am pretty much self taught over here except from the guidance i have had from Jason Rutledge via internet which without i may have never got this far. This kiwi horse logger man i would like to meet this chap i have quite alot of work comeing up and another horse logger around would be handy indeed.Theres alot of potential over here we are a nation built on logging and agriculture and we pride ourselves on a clean green image so the enviromental focus on farming and forestry has increased which is great news for the future of horse logging in this country.P.S Can anyone put me on to a good harness maker who will ship to down under im after a nylon team set cheers.

December 8, 2009 at 12:27 pm #55780DraftDriverParticipantMy first harness was a simple driving harness and I had Ms. Zimmerman make it for me from another harness I brought in. She is very good, proficient and doesn’t mind answering questions at all. Reasonably priced as well and does a great job on the harness itself.
