Abington Grown at We-Li-Kit Farm now has housing for a paid intern!
We are offering the right candidate the opportunity to join us on our diverse family farm of mixed power for the 2016 season. Abington Grown and it’s parent farm, We-Li-Kit, produce the following: a mixed market garden, strawberries, sweet corn, ear corn, small grains and straw with mostly draft animal power. Other operations on the farm include: hay, maple syrup, a homemade ice cream stand, greenhouse, woods work (firewood/saw logs), a large herd of beef cattle, a couple hogs for the family, producing our own feed rations, and corn silage.
It is a busy place but we will mostly be looking for someone interested in expanding their skills in the market garden, greenhouse, and with draft animal care/work. Helping with hay will be mandatory, and we will be working where it makes the most sense each day. There will be lots of hands-on opportunity with our livestock and horses.
The paid part of this position is part-time, with lots of opportunity to watch and learn. An applicant looking for more full time work will have the option to work part time at another small market garden just down the road. Besides produce, they also have a great bee program, and a hugelkultur project in the works. In June we welcome a intern or 2 from Yale University, and will be tackling larger projects and developing some problem solving skills as a group. Learn/work at 3 farms in the same season!

Anyone interested in applying for this internship is invited to submit a letter of interest and intent, 2 references, and a resume to “abington grown at hot mail dot com.”
Sincerely,
Erika Marczak
