I am working on my business plan and was wondering how far people travel with there horses to cut wood? I have no idea what would be a reasonable distance. I guess depending on the job and so on you could travel further for better work ? Thanks for the help

Right now I am going about 25 miles or so. With the ice on the roads up here now I will be keeping the horses there on site most of the time. I have worked six or seven hours away from home and that takes some planing. It seems like anything over 40 or so miles gets into a different realm of planning . I hate being away from my horses … it just makes me uneasy but at times it has to be done. Taylor Johnson

Horse or machinery operation, if it is much more than 1-1 1/2 hours I set up a base camp and spend at least 1/2, if not all, the work-week time there.

Travel time eats into the budget and the body.

Every day jobs, I will travel up to 45 min., but I will travel an hour or more for an occasion 1-2 days of work. I find a lot of work within 30 minutes from home.
