Last winter Doug Hammell conducted a draft horse workshop series her on our farm in oregon. The workshops were each 3 days (fri-sun) approx 1 per month for a total of 5, beginning sometime in november. Our farm provided our 7 drafts, farming equipment and asistance.
He is considering doing the workshops again and I am happy to host them. The subject matter was generally beginner to intermediate, with single to 4 abreast driving. He covered and participants got to use a wide variety of farm and logging equipment. Some people brought horses to work on specific issues. Safety was discussed and taught. The workshops were tailored to the individuals, so if there was alot of interest in a certain subject we covered it.
We are also hosting a plowing workshop on our farm in october as well. Doug and John Erskine are teaching that one.
If you are interested, email Doug Hammell on his web site, me at rubyandamber@earthlink.net, or call me 541-510-2359. Our farm is located near Cottage Grove Oregon about 15 miles from I 5.
