    hi!

i would like too know about using bits to drive oxen. i would use them only when driving the wagon or any other equipment, but also train them to respond to driver voice.
i would use them yoked in a neck yoke.

1.when do you start to use bits on oxen?

    2. how do you make them accept bits?

    3. how practical are they, compared with nose rings? they do require to be put on and off, but i wont pierce their noses.

4.the chewing cud, do they try to chew it with bits?

    5. what gives finer control, voice or bits? i think oxen generally driven wit lines, be it a nose rope, nose ring or bits, are, compared to oxen driven without lines more obedient, because they know that the driver can always control them by …

    6. how reliable are they?it’s a tricky question, because, frankly, nose rings hurt the oxen when pulled, and make the animal stop. how do bits make the animals stop?

    7. is driving oxen with bits similar to driving horses? what are the differences in driving?

    8. are bits suitable for brown swiss? i mean they are slow and lazy…

9 do oxen require different bits from horses?

thank you for sharing your knowledge!
