Well I’ve been waiting a really long time to get these guys.. they were roughly 3 and a half hours away and when I was free the ex owner was bust and vise versa for me.
the horse on my right is Prince.. and the horse on my left is Randy. they are both pure bread Belgians
Prince is a solid 18H 12 year old and is a AWESOME horse. he seems like a hot head but is really light and kind of flashy but has lots of power. Randy is about 17.2 and 14 years old. he is also an awesome horse I noticed hes a little harder to handle… mainly just cause he likes to snoop around when your walking.I’m really looking forward to working with these boys. gonna do some logging and farm work and then just pull a buggy and bob sled.

March 11, 2012 at 5:00 am #72784PeytonMParticipantThanks. I sat on the horse on my right today he was a little unsure what I was doing but seemed alright with me sitting on him… I just kept petting him and touching his neck and hind end and he would sniff my boots and just stand there… talk about a work out getting a leg over him though…

A great thing that Ken Demers told me once, that has taken a long time to sink in entirely .” Treat them like they are the best horses in the world ” Ken went on to say” If I sold these horses to you they might no longer be the best in the world ,but that they were while I owned them” I think now what he was trying to say, was love them. Treat them fairly ,be consistent ,and try to be understanding of their misunderstandings.( they were trying to do what you probably asked them to do, rather than what you thought you were asking of them ). Be CLEAR of WHAT you want your horses to do.
March 11, 2012 at 6:32 pm #72785PeytonMParticipantthats what the other owners said also. “They did everything I wanted them to do, you can have them do dang near anything you want as long as you take care of them and keep a strong hand when needed”
these guys have been great I would walk up on them slow and I ran up to them once and they never really spooked just faced the other way and then I just rubbed on their front quarters and they were fine….
