My wife and I and our youngest son live south of Ottawa, Canada. While we live here to be close to our grandkids, we have property in Illinois. The farm is operated organically and includes a tract of managed timber. We’ve always been interested in sustainable farming and living. We have several riding horses and one buggy horse. I’ll be interested to follow how others put their horses to work.
I’ve visited Ammon Weaver in Kentucky, the brains behind the Athens Horse Treadmill. Ammon is a busy fellow cutting gears and building the machine that makes replacement femurs. He does this in his horse powered shop. Ammon builds the Horse Treadmills more as a service to those of us wanting to keep our horse fit while while producing useful power. I am attempting to put some of his information on-line and to keep anyone interested updated on his new developments. If it’s not agaisnt a code of conduct, I can post the website here. Or, I’ll be glad to pass on what information I know about the Athens Horse Treadmills. - AuthorPosts
