I live in the piedmont in central Argentina in a bale house I designed and had built by local tradesmen, directing the job myself. You can see it at
I left the US in 1997, convinced the crisis and collapse that has recently arrived was coming. I worked as an equities trader, had a “moment of clarity” and decided it was time to leave it all behind.
I came upon this site while looking for info on the Prommata animal-driven tool system. I have a verysmall (3 acre) piece of ground, but may soon expand to perhaps ten acres or more. I’ve been growing veggies, have planted fruit trees, and am blessed with superb soil and climate. Imagine this: I have growing and producing within twenty yards of each other a raspberry patch (150 plants), a lemon tree, an apple tree and an orange tree! I’ve never seen anyplace quite like it.
Anyone with curiosity: C’mon down! I just completed a 2 br bale guesthouse on the property and would be happy to show folks around. I’m bilingual, obviously; there are no English-speakers for miles and miles around.

I love Argentinean food … would love to come down. We’ll have to save up for that. I think they have some cool horse riding vacations down there!
The house looks great!
Do you have plans to work the land with animals? I have mules, donkeys and a horse. What is the main working animal down there?

Hope you enjoy the site. Some very knowledgeable folks here. I almost always learn something new and interesting everytime I log on.
Oh, check your PM. I sent you a message about Argentina a few minutes ago.
