I thought it would be nice to list all of the harness shops we use. Both local and on-line. Add them in a reply and I’ll make a master list in the first post.
My place is Hillcrest Harness. Great people, Alvin and Vera, we’ve done business with them for many, many, MANY years and have always been happy with them.

LaGrange, IN 219-463-7129Bought my nylon logging harness from them in ’94 or’95 after I got tired of the weight and constantly breaking my old leather harness. Virtually no wear, nothing has ever broken on it, hose it off and good to go. I talked to the gentleman on the phone to order. Shipped me exactly what I needed. Nice Amish family, don’t know if their shop is still operational.
Troyer Harness
Ft. Lupton, COHaven’t bought harness from Harley (except at auction) but people seem very pleased with his products and from looking at it up close and personal it looks like good quality. I’ll be buying a new set of Biothane lines from him in a couple of weeks.

I bought a very good quality leather buggy harness at a very reasonable price from them. They are Amish, they have no commercial electricity nor telephone. so the telephone is a pay phone out at the road. Vernon usually answers.

Simon- if I goofed on the format of the address or phone number let me know. I can’t read Swedish so I had a little bit of a hard time translating the website information.
October 27, 2009 at 5:17 pm #54297Joshua KingsleyParticipantI just got my order from Toyer Harness and It looks Nice. The collars were for my ponies and cost a bundle less from him than anything I found in the more “local” area. They are of good quality and the other harness parts seem well made. Shipping from Co to VT was about a week from order date. Not bad it seemed to me. Thanks for the list which made the purchess possible.

JoshuaJoshua,
I’ll pass on the nice comments to Harley the next time I see him. Kinda nice see draft supplies shipping back east for a change instead of the norm which is coming from the other direction! 😉October 27, 2009 at 11:54 pm #54302TBigLugParticipantJoshua or Scott,
Can you send me some contact information for them to postr up. Address, phone number, names, etc.
Thanks

The web site is still in progress but the adress is:
http://www.troyerharness.comHarley is real nice and has some down to earth prices. A quality collar that one of the shops in Pa was selling for 98.95 was about 55.00 plus freight the thing was it is from the same manufacturer! It was a small collar so that should be taken into account but I was pleased with them. I will likely work with them again.
JoshuaOctober 28, 2009 at 7:20 pm #54303TBigLugParticipantHa ha ha, duh. I’m pretty smart. Already had them listed! That’s what I get for read once speak twice instead of read twice speak once!
May 2, 2010 at 12:28 pm #54304TBigLugParticipantJust added Crystal Valley Harness Shop. Paul made me a new set of spiders for my harness. Really nice guy, met him at the Topeka sale and placed our order then drove down a couple weeks later to pick them up after he got done building them. Really nice guy who makes high quality pieces at a more than reasonable price. Spent an hour or so jabbering with him and checking out his shop while we were there. Definitely worth the two hour drive.
