Hello all, it’s been a couple of years I think since I posted and there are lots of new people, so I thought I would feel more comfortable here if I said hi. My name is Julie and I’m emerging from the fog of early motherhood to resume progress on the little farm I’m trying to establish with my husband here in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire. Our daughter will be two in July. I am home full time with her and my husband has the day job. We have run the Small Farmers Journal booth at the Common Ground Fair for several years, and at APFD (though not last year), so we may have met you. (We have Lynn’s books and cases of back issues here in storage, so if you are local, drive on over for a visit and save shipping costs. You can write your check directly to SFJ.)
We have a Suffolk Punch mare and she is a solid horse, the best woods horse I have ever met. I’m looking for equipment right now and in particular am interested in finding a small walking plow for her. Reading all the threads and it seems like opinions are all over the place.
We have raised chickens for several years and have sold eggs, meat and pullets. This year I’m hoping to sell at our local farmers’ market. We added on to our house this past year and built a space for a canning kitchen. I’m planning to give classes and make the space available for others to bring produce and jars and process their own…all in a couple of years from now.
I feel like I’m on the threshold of a lot of things right now and am trying to organize and focus my efforts. It’s hard to do the right things rather than everything. or worse, nothing.

It’s so good to hear from you again. Your projects sound exciting and I wish you the best of luck with all of them. It may be a little far, but we (DAPNet) are holding a Plowing Clinic at Sam Rich’s place in CT, there is bound to be a lot for us auditors to learn about plows and plowing. I found my single plow at an auction and another I bought at a yard sale just for the bridle, then after some looking over I think I can make it work if I can find a new point for it and get some new handles. Just keep your eyes open, you never know what is lurking in a hedgerow or road side.Best of Luck,
Erika
