Hello all. I’ve been following the forum for a month or so, and this’ll be my first post. I have been a (professional) horse logger for about 6.5 years now, and spent a lot of time behind a team on the family farm before that. I am originally from the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, where I did an apprenticeship with Jason Rutledge about 7 years ago. I logged for a few years in Virgina after that, and since then my work has taken me to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Iowa, Montana and Wyoming. Wyoming is where I find myself this summer, doing a lot of Mountain Pine Beetle kill removal. I have 3 horses. Two of them are Suffolk/Belgian cross, which I raised, 3 and 5 years old and coming along well. The other one is a Suffolk/Percheron cross, 15 years old and experienced.
I find the discussions on here to generally be thought provoking, and I like the interaction between experienced horseman/loggers.
Anyone else from western WY area?
