Hello all. I am living on a very small homestead. I have a small herd of dairy goats. Laying hens as soon as a coop is ready. All for personal use, not a commercial operation at all. I was involved in commercial ag for a long time, maybe a part-time/ very small scale commercial op. in the future. No work animals at this time, planning on a small work horse or draft pony come spring. Like using hand tools and have become interested in mowing with a scythe the past few years. Want a draft animal to haul the small amounts of hay I make in. I have worked horses before, but it’s been about 10 years now, time to start again. Take care all.

Don’t discount the use of the little guys when looking for an added hand around the homestead. You might be suprised at what a shetland or mini team can do.

I lived over that way almost 30 years ago for awhile. I was to that fair a couple times. I had not really thought of the mini-horses, but I am thinking about the shetlands. The mini’s just seem so small, I didn’t think about that direction. I saw that post on another thread though with the clips of them pulling at a fair. Pretty cool.
