horse being a crab?

ok, well I have 6 horses at my house and some others at a friends place. I got 2 percheron’s mother daughter team, the guy couldn’t remember the age but said he knew they were some were between 8-12, the mother is really laid back easy going horse, I jump on her back all the time when shes out loose and kiss her and she’ll go walking around and I say Gee and Haw and she responds. Her daughter isn’t as laid back, if shes out loose it some times takes a while if I brush her not tied to get all the way around her once I get half way she wants to back up so I stay by her head, she will let you it just takes time. when I first got these two I only had one other horse at my place and that was a belgain mare thats 9 and they all got along. now being I have more hay at my place I brought over 3 other horses, one is a morgan gelding, not sure of age, pretty tame when you ride him hes got a mind of his own, just have to be firm with him. a filly that is my belgian mare’s she’ll be one in may and a Frisian perch. cross that turned 2 this spring.

When ever I feed she chases all the horses but my belgain mare, Fancy and her mom sally, and shes a total cu*t kicking rearing chasing horses around biting. there were two close calls where she almost kicked me and almost kicked a friend. I’m getting tired of her BS! I’ve been told that she is more than likely in heat and that if she isn’t if I bred her that would mellow her out. I really don’t need any more, I already have 5 draft’s that can work in harness and 2 that are a riding’ light harness horse and the one yearling. I know she’s being the boss of the pasture, but she’s not being just the boss of the pasture, she being a pain in my @$$. I had a gelding like her once before but he went down the road shortly after he was brought in the drive way.

anyone have any ideas on what I can do. shes really lonesome towards her mother if you pull one away from the other the daughter goes crazy. I have a friend tell me to work her a lot single, and make her be in harness as much as I can… I have plenty of rock to pick anyone have any plans or idea as to how big a single stone boat could be? I was going to use a old tractor tire on her for now being its getting muddy where I live.

I will admit that if I had to take horses out to work every day and expected them to work hard I would hands down pick the team of perch but when the harness comes off and I turn them out the one is not very high on my like able list…

I’m not condoning this but a friend of mine had similar experience and she used a dog shock collar on her. About three good jolts and she had enough. I was surprised, it worked wonders. Also, being in heet is not a good excuse for bad behavior. It’s like working a stud, he has to know that there is a time and place for everything and in harness is not the place for fooling around. JMHO

I have been working with two 7 year old half sisters that have been with each other their entire lives. They could be worked single, but used to be very distracted being away from the other and it was not fun. I started working them on the ground this winter, prepping them for saddle training this spring. Just a lot of easy lunging, working with tarps or other obstacles, giving feet, etc, nothing that they couldn’t do already, but all of these things were a bit of challenge when separated. All of this work was done with the mate shut up in her stall and away from the barn. After 2 months they are mostly weaned from each other, much more focused on working when single and doing better single work, if they become distracted by separation a little reminder gets them back to the task at hand. They have come a long way and I have not been terribly consistent with training in regards to regular work due to ice and mud at times. Sometimes only 5 minutes with a halter an lead.

I suspect that one of the mares is somewhat cystic (constantly in heat) we never let this be and excuse for her to not behave well.
