I work in the dairy industry as a service tech and get on a lot of farms ans see all kinds of old horse drawn equipment but it’s not for sale. I always ask if I can look at it they always say yes. But when I ask if it is fore sale they say it was grandpas and want to keep it wich is cool but a little frustrating . Today I saw a dump, rake milk can wagon, two walking plows, a tedder, and a dozen steel wheels. Yesterday I saw a cultivator and a mower and a trashed grader. I guess I’m lucky I get to see it at least. Once in a wile I get to talk to an old guy who remembers using horses to farm. Eli

I ran into that when I was looking for a hayloader to rebuild, but eventually I found two and was able to rebuild one. People are funny most did’t want to sell “because they didn’t know what is was worth” and they didn’t like my offer thinking it was worth gold…if you can get it in Neilsville or Waverly that where I would start.

I have a neighbor like that. I offered him good money on his dump rakes and mowers, he just wants to let them rot into the ground apparently. He actually didn’t know there were mowers behind his house in the brush until I showed him where they were, then he couldn’t bear to part with them!
Same with another fellow and his grain drill and yet another with his buckrake and overshot stacker. Can’t figure that thinking out.

I did get a lead on a IH mower. The guy said he would sell it in spring when the snow melts so time will tell. Eli
