My lead mare, Raven, has come in from pasture with a series of rather nasty wounds in haunches (her next in command, Emma, also had one wound.) I went out, found some possible culprits (big nails, etc.), remedied the situation, and she then showed up with another nasty wound, this time laming her somewhat. I was fit to be altered.

Turns out our yak bull, now 3, has a newly sharpened horn tip and has been chasing her around and goring her. 😮 We run a mixed herd and this is a new behavior. Needless to say, we are lucky she is mildly lame only. They are now separated, the bull has had his horn-tips blunted, and the horse is being treated.

    A cautionary tale!

I’ve had yak, and it tastes pretty good! Sounds like a win/win to me…

Might not want to turn your back on that yak.
