Naw, Neil,..I ain’t never owned a horse….but herds have owned us
since my Chicaza Ancestors took these ponies from de Soto here in 1540…..

Old Sainted Elders on their death beds always prayed & pleaded me:
    “Save the Fruit”…….
translation: Teach the Children the old ways………..

    Nother ‘ Story:
“Trader kept try’n to beat an old neighbor out of a prize bull yearling,
    Old Man Pinkerton told him:
    “Naw….I’m a Farm’n Man….I’ll whittle me a wood beak & peck sh(excuse-me)t with the chickens before I’d get ‘dat hungry…..”

Neil, you just such Embarassment to the rest of us that’ll never amount to ‘whut?’…..everybody better have ’em one whittle’d these days………..

Hi Neil. We’ve visited before on email. I’m from Wyoming and you helped me with your 3wheeled forcart plans and ways to make 4 up hitches work. Sure am glad to hear from you here.
For those of you who don’t know Neil, he is a fountain of information. He’s used more horses for more things than I would have thought possible in this day and age. He is someone who we can lean on for a bunch of information. He raises some beautiful Percheron horses and uses them for everything under the sun. Big hitches (huge hitches) of horses are one thing that comes to mind.

Didn’t get my cart made yet Neil. Still trying to get caught up on spring work. Still have cattle on the hay meadows as there isn’t any grass on my range yet. Barely quit feeding cows a week or ten days ago.
That cart is a great idea. I have a 2 wheel forecart but there’s times when you can definitely see the advantage for the 3 wheeler. I’m hoping to get one welded together this fall or winter.
I picked up another little ranch to lease so will be running 2 boblseds this winter feeding around 300 mother cows. The place is 6 or 7 miles cross country from my homeplace so I’ll stash another team there and keep one home to feed replacements and such.
I’m working on my teams to go 4 up this year. Last winter was a rough one and I could have used 4 up quite a little breaking trail with the bigger loads going up the grades.
Keep cranking out those videos. Might really need them to teach the world to operate without diesel before too long. Besides, I sure like to watch them.

    But,……for us who ain’t………..

I’m bait’n ya’ for some of your: ” Own Favorite Wreck Stories” up in here…I have heard it’ll give ya’ a sense of humor???…

OK! I was on a wagon train in the cut arm valley just south of the white mud hills, we had been on the trail for a week and had 4 more days to go, the novelty of riding had worn off on the green horns and the team was under full load and off in that zoned out space horse with a long day ahead get, the wagon ahead of me was one of those almost a wagon substance with plastic pipe for hoops and a blue tarp, and the one behind had a team of little fat feords( he, he) and with a little help from a tow rope and a big hook on the back of my wagon they made it up all the hills so far when a big old mean and half blind rattler struck out and bit down on my ,on my … wagon pole!!! by the time we got the team unhooked we had to saw off the pole to save the wagon !!!! He He!! Ha HA!!

Story’s are not lies, just story’s!! I thought you were looking for humor? If you are asking about runaways then you are asking the wrong person, you don’t get to drive 46 by having runways!! some times when I putting a new 6 together things get all tangled up but training keeps them put until we untangle, and some times when starting a new trainee they get upset or just plane freak out but with the right training tools they are held in place until it passes. started over 500 trainees and no runaways so I would guess it works, The closes to a runaway I ever had in the last 30 years of driving is when a @#$@ driving a silage truck was in a hurry and thought it would be fun to chase me down the road, the moment that he stoped chasing they stoped running, never lost control they just didn’t like the very loud motor revving at top speed with no mufflers, I come from a Long line of trainers and Have been taught how to train horses so there are no runaways, I have road through a few when I was to stupid to know better, buddy had snaps on his lines and a hook and run trained team, another one didn’t tie his rack down and he hit a snow bank with a full load of Xmas celebrators on, most fell of right away some were hurt and I tried to help and almost got killed for my efforts, Makes you double your efforts to not see another, Sorry to disapoint, And I keep my humor to my self, OK
