I came across this new Swedish small grain weeder that is designed for tractors, but it would be interesting to adapt it for horse power. Looks like it wouldn’t be too hard. Maybe a big spoked wheel on each end to drive the brush and mounting would be the only major adaptations.

Manufacturer: http://www.jcs-innovation.se/engprod1.htmlIt looks like it would be pretty low draught compared to soil cultivation, with higher ground speed, doesn’t disturb the soil, and could be used in broadcast grains and hayfields (as I understand there are some major thistle problems in hayfields out west). It was developed primarily for thistle, but it would be interesting to know how it works on other common weeds. Looks like it would work on a lot of things that are thick stemmed and herbaceous vs. grassy. Anyway, I thought it was really neat, and nice to dream about, even if it is unavailable (in Sweden).
enjoy
