Hi…I’m Jennifer and I live in Springfield, NH. I have 6 horses…3 riding horses of various breeds, 2 minis and a coming 2 Belgian gelding. I’m a gifted rider, but want to try driving with my Belgian. I’m a newbie, but we are doing ok. I’ve got ground driving in a halter going really well and just bought a harness. Once the weather and footing allow, we will start back to work. I would eventually like to use Peanut to do some work around the farm…clearing, hauling wood, etc.

The minis are new to us….Mare and colt (yearling) and are a beautiful chocolate dapple color. The mare has driving experience and I hope to pair the two someday as a team. So I’m here to learn as much as I can and I will be coming to all three days of the Field Days in September! Looking forward to it immensely. Jennifer.:)

    Hi Jennifer,

Good to see some more minis on the site. I have 2 also. A 6 year old mare we trained to drive last year and a 1 year old colt who will be ponied with the mare this year. A lot of fun to be around.

I just brought home a new driving horse, he has taught me a lot. Stick around this forum and you will always learn something new.

Hi Jean, I read an article about a mini that did alot of forestry work somewhere. I guess these little guys can get into some tight spots where the big boys have trouble..so I’d like to put the little guy to work when he is older. But a carriage would be nice too. I look forward to hearing more about your pair…interestingly the same ages as my mare and colt. Jen.

You know, I’ve always had this urge to hitch six or eight up of those little critters in front of a gang of reel mowers to mow my lawn. I don’t know, seem’s like a funny idea.

Hmmm…..I can see the head lines now, “local screw-ball mowing lawns with 8 miniature horses. The police were notified, but stated that their was no law against being a dumbass.”

    Welcome to the forum!

That is so funny. I actually begged my g/f to let me do that. I don’t own any mini’s but I would love to put eight of them together, go through town on a little wagon singing “Fat Guy With A Little Horse”. lol I wonder why she didn’t want me to?

I don’t have any minis but have quite a few friends who do. I would love to see someone drive a 6 up of minis with a mini-stage coach or mini brewery wagon or something! they are strong for their size and so easy to transport. one of my friends carries hers in …. you guessed it…. a “mini van” ! har har har
