Lancek, just how old do you gotta be to be an ‘old fart’ officially? I’m 43 and my kids call me that. Am hoping they are premature in doing so.

When I turned 50 which was 20 years ago my daughter sent me a card which said in part, ” 50 years into eternity” With that perspective you can feel the same about being 50 years old as when 20 or 80 or any other age number because it’s a relative blink in your life expanse. In my opinion the important thing is to know where you will be spending that massive amount of eternal time.

As long as you have your health you’ll never be old. Take that nugget with a grain of salt as it comes from a 27 year old in relatively good health. I saw a story on the news last night about Earnie Harwell (an old announcer for the Detroit Tigers). They asked him if he’d like to live to be 100 or 110. To wich he responded, “I want to live as long as I’m healthy so as not to be a burden to my family.” I suppose that’s what I’ll aim for as well!
