Not sure if I’ll bring my horses – there’s sort of a limited amount of equipment to use but one can always drive them round the grounds getting exposure to more novel sights and sounds (like the steam valve releasing on the steam powered tractor). How bout you?
August 29, 2011 at 8:05 pm #68938Demented Donkey DameParticipantGeoff, I’ve never seen the harvest. Was there for the spring plowing once. I would really love to go! I’m guessing if a person is there around 10 am they would be in full swing unless it is cool and the humidity is to high that early? As far as I know right now I plan to go. Hopefully the cooler temps won’t slow down the ripening. Do you know if there is a contact person to find out for sure if it is a go? Maybe we could meet up if you decide to head that way.
After our little “run-away” episode last Saturday…that is exactly what sounds my boys need. I won’t be bringing them but it sure would be good for them to hear that noise! http://www.2011teamdonk.wordpress.com has the fun filled story! Not sure if Robert is thinking it was fun-filled yet! Oh and by the way Robert I tightened all the screws in the buggy except the loose one that usually drives the three abreast! LOL~August 29, 2011 at 8:21 pm #68934near horseParticipantHi Kristi,
I do know that the contact person is Stan Riebold (509) 648-4272 but he’s a tough one to get ahold of. Also Tom Hennigar (509) 648-3462. They might be going sooner than 10AM since they have a nice lunch at noonish or so. That said, if you get there at 10 there’ll be plenty going on. PM me with your phone number and I’ll be in contact if I’m going and we can ride together. Does Robert want to go too?

Oh, and sometimes, when speaking, her voice settles into a small bray…comes from hangin’ out with so many donkeys, methinks! {her ears under that hair are starting to grow a bit longer, too!
September 4, 2012 at 7:37 pm #68936near horseParticipantSorry Kristi. I didn’t see your message until this AM as I had already headed over to the threshing bee. I was the guy with the blue shirt driving one of the header boxes with big red Belgians. Also, I was having quite a bit of trouble getting them to deal with all the new scary stuff – just tried to stay with it and not let them “off the hook”. Exhausting.
The turns executed by the 6 mules on the header (and the teamsters – Stan Riebold and John Obermeyer) were a real thing of beauty. Hope the video was good enough to make the cut for RFDTV – RH.
September 5, 2012 at 2:21 pm #68942Demented Donkey DameParticipantGeoff, my day certainly was not as planned. I was only on site from 2:30 to 3. Did not have the video camera set on the correct mode and as a result did not get much on film. So disappointing! I missed seeing anyone having any problems, it looked like everything was running smoothly. The two gentlemen with the huge cameras in the field said my timing was good as the harvest was up and running after a breakdown. They are hoping to sell some of their photos so hopefully we will all enjoy them at some point and time. What I did get on film is posted here:
http://2012teamdonk.wordpress.com/2012/09/05/thrashing-bee-videos/Pirate-Farmer, you are always just to much fun!
