I was given a GoPro camera recently, and just took it out in the woods yesterday to get footage of logs behind my cart. I never see them since I am driving the team.
This is my first attempt at putting a video together from with the software. It shows a neat trick I think, and I welcome all feedback.
I did not stop to rehitch the log because I was only traveling about 200 feet.

Nice work Jay. What do you call the hook piece on the end of your chain and do you have a source for them? It appears to work as a choker? I am using a standard clevis grab hook. If I look at it wrong the chain drops out and I have to reset it.

    Will,
    I remember those days.

Most our local shops that sell chainsaws carry that style of choker.

I call it a slip hook. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of a 20′ chain with a slip hook on one end and a grab hook on the other. I choker something I cant reach easy, and can hook the grab hook anywhere to set the length of the chain.

Thanks. Living out in isolation on the island there are some things I just don’t have access to. Thanks for the help.

You might even consider going a step further and putting a “needle” on the other end of your chain. I take a 2′ piece of 3/8 round stock, heat it with a torch, and bend it around the last link on my chain (opposite end from the choker). You can push the needle under the log and pull the chain through on the other side – very handy. I’ll try to post a picture below. Choker with a needle is on the top right.

that is good George. I’ve used a needle before but have lost several off equipment- running over with a dozer track, so I don’t have any now. My next step will likely be a rope like you have on the left for and a few pulleys.
