As soon as the snow is gone I’ll be hunting for a pair of bull calves in central New England. While a few more weeks would be best I might take the perfect pair now. They will be a first team for a kid so I want a breed that has a calm attitude and will not out grow my boy in the first six months. I am thinking normandy, horned herford, or some sort of mix. Message me if you have anything.

I am not sure if Jersey/Holstien is something that you are interested in but I can look and see what is in the bull pen before the shipper comes for some culls and calves.

I have always said anything crossed with a holstein makes a good ox but in this case I am afraid they would get to tall. My boy is only 6 and I was hoping for something that would stay sort of short. I can get pure bred jersey bulls locally for free, the problem is when they are 2 or 3 years old and its time to start a new pair they have very little resale value for the time and feed put into them. Thanks any how.

I can check with Sam at Shelburne Farms, they would be Brown Swiss, he does like to sell them to be used as Ox.

Still looking for calves, Livewater farm still hasn’t talked his heifers into having two bulls. 🙂
Herford, normande, randal or crosses of them preferred. The younger the better so my kids can bottle feed them.

Looks like I found some. I didn’t really want Holstein but they were 2 miles from home and free, just couldn’t pass up something so easy to get.
