We have a nearly 11 year old team of Guernseys (Bill and Lou). For the last couple months, Lou, our off steer, has been having recurring problems in his rear hock. He has gotten better with rest, but he is very prone to re-injury (much more prone than Bill, the nigh ox.)
We’re considering buying a new teammate for Bill.
Bill is rather large for a guernsey, a little over a ton, we think. He is very docile and calm, possibly even to a fault.
Its a farming team, so a visual “match” is not a must at all, would consider other breeds.
A match in temperament and size is obviously important.
