I recently came across this video about hand gathering salt marsh hay. The hay was left on elevated ricks until winter when the ground was solid enough for the animals to walk out there and get it.
I’m not clear how they dry the hay if the ground is too moist to hold up horses?
Are there any good crops to grow in freshwater marsh for this purpose?
One of the properties we looked at has maybe 10-20 acres of wetland behind the good pasture, and I wonder if I’d ever get any use out of it. (Not that I’m hand mowing that much of it by hand, but it’s a viable discussion in the brainstorming phase.)
