Here are a few pictures of putting a new seven foot bar on a good #7 mower. While doing that I bent the push bar to reestablish the lead. Finally I used the square to position the pitman and cutter head. For the timing I started with a guess of making the push bar flush with the end of the cutter head (first picture of mower out of time by about 3/8″). Then I turned the push bar one revolution out (second picture – just a touch out of time with guards slightly to the left of knives) Usually when I put on the timing bar, even though I adjust it for length to match everything else, it still pulls the guards a little to the right (final picture – mower reassembled, in time with good lead). I also changed the ledger plate of the inner shoe. One rivet I took off with a grinder, and the rest I took off with a cold chisel. I need to get a better tool to finish the new rivets. Off to the beach!
