    I could try that as a last resort if my gumpole doesnt turn out ok. What exactly is the process?

    Russel, does the eucalyptus check if seasoned while submerged in (forgive me) water? Some of the best wood here has been submerged for years and brought up (out of the lake), well seasoned and without checking… Or what about some iron bands at the ends and along the length- 2 or 3? Just a couple of thoughts. Jay

    I have seen more than one made from a chunk of 2 inch pipe as well…. they work just fine, but aren’t all that pretty.

    We have used aspen with good results but mower is kept under cover when not in use.
    We just use what is at hand.Mower pole is 14′ in lenght.
