Hello everyone.
I’m neither a farmer or someone who has ever worked with a draft animal.
Been to a few horse and oxen pulls though
and I am a country boy at heart.
I am however, an amateur poet,
( Very amateur,haven’t been published yet )
Who also happens to live in an old cape built in 1720.
I wrote a poem about my house and if nobody minds,I would like to post it here,if anyone would care to read it.
Just post a reply, and I’ll put it up.
Much of the stuff I like to write about has to do with days gone by,or life in the country. So Reading thru this forum,I see a wealth of material.
If nobody here minds, I would like to use some of this material
to write a little poetry.
If you wouldn’t mind,I could post some of them here.September 24, 2008 at 12:35 am #47369Carl RussellModeratorSure Ron,

I think you’ll like this one. It’s entitled,Redemption.
Summer the growing time
the building time.
When the woods and the farmer’s fields
go about their most important business.
As men will enjoy the noonday sun
celebrating recharging
growing from within.Autumn the harvest time
the scything time.
Threshing away the chaff
as the woods shed their skin.
Like the farmer
we hold back seeds for planting
and sell what we can afford to lose.Winter the quiet time
the resting time.
Keeping ourselves
as the farmer keeps his oxen
and the woods lay quiet
and sleeping.Spring the glorious time
the awakening time.
Improving our husbandry
striving to grow more carefully
than we did last year.As we walk the springtime woods and fields
The Earth shows us her brand new season.
Seeking her own redemption
in revealing that which is unchanging
universal
and eternal.Every year
asking us to see her
with new eyes
to make and keep with her a new covenant
and a new redemption for ourselves. - AuthorPosts
