Hi everyone,
We are Jonathan and Jolianne, two young farmers from Dunham, Québec. This is our third year of growing organic vegetables for our CSA. Prior to that, we did a number of apprenticeships on vegetable farm, including Orchard Hill Farm in Ontario where we learned to use draft horses for farming (CSA, hay and grains).
The last two years, we have been renting land and machinery, but this year, we are renting a whole farm without machinery and so, we have the opportunity to put into place our own system. As part of this, we have acquired a team of horses from an Amish farm in Ontario to help us in the vegetable fields. This year, we will be making 5 acres of vegetables, feedind 180 families with veggies. We will be also be selling pastured eggs and pork for the first time! Also, we are excited this year to have two interns on the farm with us (by the way, one of the positions is still available, in case you know someone who might be interested!)
We are really excited to start our horse farming venture and are looking foward to be part of the horse farming community to learn and share our experiences!
