Sorry but I probably won’t get all the terminology right here. I still feel like I’m speaking a foreign language. But I have a dilemma I’m hoping someone can help with.

I have a New Ideal single horse mower that needs a new bushing for the coupling (I think that’s what it’s called — the part that the Pittman arm bolts into?) and we’re not sure how to get the coupling off the mower. I have the manual, but it’s unclear if there’s a nut that should come off, or there’s a bolt that goes through the coupling and attaches it to the flywheel (I think that’s what it’s called?? the wheel thing that goes around and turns the Pittman…) In the manual, it looks like there’s a nut. But the farmer friend who is helping me thought it looked like it might actually be a bolt that was then peened on the end, where it attaches to the flywheel. Maybe this is a modification someone did to the mower? He also wasn’t sure if the nut/bolt might be left handed, and didn’t want to tap anything too hard before trying to find out.

Does anyone have any ideas?? I’m attaching some photos since this explanation of the problem is likely very unclear.

    Thanks!
    Leslie
