I have a wonderful friend that you know as Pirate Farmer who directed me to this site. I drive two teams of mammoth donkeys, I would love to do some plow days with them. In fact Pirate Farmer and I are going to attempt to hook his cultivator up and see how my new team does with it. He has been my right hand training helper for so long he can harness, hitch and find all my mistakes before I can! Super Great Guy!!
I’ve attached a photo of our first drive thru town and the team’s 4th hitch. Not sure what size so I choose a small one. My blog has the full story and pictures check it out at http://www.2011teamdonk.wordpress.com We started these two the first of May. The other team has almost 450 miles on them in the last two years. Had to get another team before I wore out the first team! This is a huge farming area and after the crops are off the fields I can go anywhere a tractor can…and maybe a few places they can’t. I hitch them to a two wheeled cart and just have a great time. So here I am The Demented Donkey Dame…. who is realy a Diva! It looks like you can click on the photo to enlarge it.

    Welcome to DAP, Kristi!!

Folks, this is my mentor, who has the patience of a saint, trying to teach me enough not to kill myself…or harm the donks!
Just to let you know about her skills w/ working “the boyz”, as she said, we started these two in harness May 1 or so…and in June, they’ll be ready to go into the White Bird Days parade! (Of course, them being sensible donkeys helps a lot!)

    Donkey power!

Love the team! We’re just down the road a piece near Boise. We drive a donk, a team of Fjord mules and a fjord horse. You can check out my pics at gallery.me.com/heehawhaven

    We’ll have to get together!

Hey Dave, next time you get up this way to float the Salmon River let me know! We used to show at Hells Canyon Mule Days also. Loved the photos. I use to have horse friends in Kuna. Thanks for the shout out!

What play day or planting? I’m interested if I’m available! School is done as of Tuesday! We went to mt. Mule days about 5 years ago. Had lots of fun! We like hells canyon and Fossil, Or mule days. We are also hoping to do a wagon train in Copper Basin this summer!

And, of course, we need to get some whitewater in too!

Dave – Geoff and I are trying to work out the kinks I’m having posting in ‘Events’ (the #$@@$ thing hates me!) – there’ll be more details there, when…

Short version: I’ve got a garden in on the banks of the Salmon River (there’s your whitewater you want) and permission to have a fun day on the 7 acres there – farm work + driving + and log snigging + us + draft animals = a fun time, ayuh? Figure sometime in the fall after the heat breaks around here. If you’ve been to Hell’s Canyon Days, its on the OTHER side of that hole in the ground…White Bird, Idaho.
