It seems he has rescinded all pending federal regulations and this includes the stuff on NAIS. You can read more about it at this site above.
No over yet, but some bureaucrats are now looking for something to do with themselves or another way of meddling with rural peoples lives. We will have to keep an eye on all of it to see what happens with this next.
Isn’t it nice to not have flies everywhere…..that is about the best I can do about enjoying this long, dry, cold, windy winter in the Appalachians….I also guess it looks like a promising maple syrup year up north too….

“Legal Defense Fund Calls for Obama Administration to Permanently Stop USDA Animal Identification Rule?”
http://nonais.org/2009/01/30/ftcldf-calls-for-obama-to-stop-nais/
February 1, 2009 at 12:44 am #49620SidehillnDirtpoorParticipantThe proposed rule, entitled the “Official Animal Identification Numbering Systems,” was published by the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) in the Federal Register January 13. On Tuesday, the Obama administration ordered federal agencies to halt all pending regulation until they can be reviewed.
So maybe he is paying attention……..?? (Obama that is)
February 10, 2009 at 2:24 pm #49621Happy When HitchedParticipantto contact legislators (again) and let them know our feelings about NAIS.
http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtmlFebruary 14, 2009 at 10:43 pm #49617OldKatParticipantI had contacted our state animal health commission; TxAHC about this issue back in the fall sometime. They told me then that it was “probably” a dead issue anyway. Hopefully we can hear soon that they have put a stake in the heart of this beast once and for all. Big Government run-a-muck for sure.
Thanks to all for the links…
February 15, 2009 at 10:31 am #49622Happy When HitchedParticipantI’m going to keep beating it till I’m sure it’s dead.:D
February 15, 2009 at 11:38 am #49619Simple LivingParticipantIt’s the government in bed with big ag. businesses, kinda like fightin’ the Devil himself. It will never be “dead”. Keep fighting and for goodness sakes let your local/state reps know how we all feel! STOP NAIS NOW! At one time agencies like the USDA were meant to help us. Now all they are good for is helping themselves…. to our pocketbook, all in the name of food/health/national safety.
I had alot more typed in here, but I’ll save that for another day.

February 15, 2009 at 2:07 pm #49623Happy When HitchedParticipantSludge application on farm and forest and from municipal waste tx plants has reared it’s smelly and toxic head here in Va. Again. Virginia Tech, funded by the Devil himself, is at the forefront along with Big Ag, pushing hard. And of course local boards are glad to have the stuff taken off their hands, despite the health hazards involved. Folks don’t seem to understand that this is not just shit they’re talking about.
One more thing to write a polite yet outraged letter about. Sigh.Luckily, there’s a strong community against NAIS. We just all need to keep being vocal.
