Hello everyone,
I have an Oliver #11 that I purchased a few years ago and it works pretty well. I was posting some pictures in my picturetrail account and saw a place to link a slide show to another forum. So I thought I would try to post it here. WARNING!!! These picuters are graphic….. they show me using my Simplicity garden tractor hooked to the plow in my garden. I know it’s a bad thing…. 😮 It was the first day I had been home in a couple of weeks and 3 days of rain was on the horizon, so I cheated. The other pictures are of my Haflinger mother/daughter team in the other garden. The plow is a 16″ with a slatted mouldboard. I have very light loamy soil so they are able pull that much plow. If I had heavy soil or planned to do alot more plowing I would look for a smaller bottom. I have inquired about getting a smaller one with a solid moldboard, but it looks like it would cost me twice what I paid for the plow. If this does not work, I will also add a link to the album. http://www.picturetrail.com/streiver
Thanks,

JohnNovember 7, 2011 at 8:38 pm #70042MarshallParticipantI have the same plow and the same build haflingers now I really can’t wait to give it a try. I just wish I could find a coulter for it.

It works better with three of them. I will ask around as I know where there are a couple more of these around. I think you can put the coulter off of one of the 2 bottom tracter plows as well.

If I was real adventurous(SP) I could come up with four haflingers but I don’t know if I am that brave yet. Does your plow have some sort of eye bolt to hold on the coulter? Mine has a hole to use an eye bolt around the shank of the coulter and the bolt goes thru the casting with a nut on the back but all of that is missing.

After the rain and wind this afternoon I went out and took a couple of pics of the eyebolt and mounting area for the coulter. If you would like more details let me know and I will pull it apart and take some measurments with the digatal calipers to help you come up with one. Happy viewing!!Gordon
November 10, 2011 at 2:44 pm #70044MarshallParticipantThanks Gordon. If I could come up with a bolt I think I have a coulter that is just like the one you have. I would appreciate any help. Thanks again.
November 11, 2011 at 10:02 pm #70049Simple LivingParticipantI pulled apart the eyebolt that holds the coulter in place and took some measurements for you. It sure looks like a forged piece to me. I would think you may be able to come up with something to use. Got a handy blacksmith in your area? Maybe find a forged eyebolt at the local hardware or TSC? The shaft that holds the coulter here is 1.250″dia. Here is a picture with the measurements on the pic. Let me know how it works out for you!
