Who can tell me more about “ox roads” in New England, parallel stone walls a team of oxen breadth apart, where the stone boat or cart or whatever could be pointed in the right direction and arrive at it’s destination without need for a driver. A myth? the truth? would that have worked for horses as well? where was that used first? am asking because I’ve recently been on such narrow, stone-walled roads …… in Switzerland and Liechtenstein
