So far i haven’t been able to find any ox-teamsters in Pa who are able to come to the Farm Show with their cattle in Jan 2009, so….. any one in neighboring states interested?
October 6, 2008 at 12:13 am #47529Carl RussellModeratorWhat part of PA is the farm show in? Did you check with Howie on this site?
CarlOctober 6, 2008 at 12:24 am #47530becorsonParticipantthanks for the reply, Carl. I did check with Howie and unfortunately he is not able to come.
the farm show complex is in harrisburg pa. it’s relatively easy to get to, less than 1 mile off of I-81…. but i can understand how folks wouldn’t want to undertake a road trip with cattle in the wintertime…October 6, 2008 at 2:03 pm #47531becorsonParticipantMaybe i can get Rob to bring his team from Howell Farm? ……
January 15, 2009 at 6:14 pm #47535amy40Participantsorry I didn’t know about the farm show. I’m a new member today. i am a novice training my first team of steers for The Lands at Hillside Farms a non profit org here in Pa and would love to go next year. Is there any oxen at the farm show? I’m going tommorow to watch the dairy show. Is there any oxen in Pa?
January 15, 2009 at 7:12 pm #47533RobinParticipantThere is a single ox there. Look for Dan the Ox along with Barbara his drover.
They are in the Exotic Area…about the third aisle in. I believe this is the Northwest Hall.
She was there on Tuesday. Not sure of her schedule for the rest of the week.
There is a lot to see at the show. Give yourself plenty of time.
All of it is indoors. Good thing with this wild winter weather.
You will find oxen in Pa. Check out Howie…a wonderful person to learn from.January 29, 2009 at 1:37 am #47532becorsonParticipantDan and I were only at the Farm Show for two days. I didn’t want him inside too much, since he is used to being outside all the time.
It was a lot of work to get Dan and his cart there, but i think it was worthwhile. It was great to meet Robin, for one thing. Lots of people said they had “learned something” and I gave out the web site address to a few people who seemed really interested.January 30, 2009 at 12:39 am #47534RobinParticipantHi Barbara,
It was great speaking to you at the Pa. Farm Show.
It seems Dan has six legs in your photo.
sorry you didn’t get into the ring. Maybe next year.
