Hello, my name is Patrick Terry, I live in Montville, ME. I cut 4 foot pulpwood,
and firewood. I use a Dray to yard the wood with a single Belgian that I own and team of Gray Percheron Mares, that a friend owns. The dray is 14 feet long spruce poles attached to a bobsled, it pivots like a fifth wheel.
Draftanimalpower is a very special community of people, and I felt like sharing what I do. thanks.February 11, 2011 at 11:24 pm #65624jacParticipantHey Patrick.. you certainly are in great company, welcome. He doesn’t know “whoa” I found out. I have ground twitched a cord with him this winter. The gray mares have yarded 20 cords of fir pulp, they are 1,500 lbs a piece. Very nice team but they like to run.
It shaped up to be quite the winter. The deep snow makes for better roads and easier yarding the wood, keeps the dray above rocks, hummicks, stumps and what-ever, tougher on the chopping and swamping though, but I really love hard, hard work wicked hard. The harder the better. Cant spell tun but I can move it..PatrickFebruary 12, 2011 at 3:05 pm #65620john plowdenParticipantWelcome Patrick – Glad to hear your still giving it a go –
