While searching through my late Uncle Jim’s random farm and logging equipment, I found some interest plows.
The first one, of which there are actually two of, is a trailer plow. It is a single bottom plow. It happens to about two feet across, with a smooth rolling coulter almost two and a half feet across. The coulter is set about 4 inches above the share. The other one of these plows is just about the same, except it has a knife coulter. What are these plows supposed to be used for?
The other type of plow is really interesting. It’s a two bottom riding plow. Rolling coulters, turning furrow wheel and all those goodies. Except, each bottom is maybe 6 inches across. I haven’t really seen much info about this type of plow (Erik and I couldn’t see who made the thing) although I saw a picture some where of an International walking plow that had similiar bottoms. Is there anything special about this kinda plow? Any particular uses?
As always, any info is appreciated!
