I have been using a pin to attach the wagon pole to the yoke ring. The pole has a stop on it to hold back loads. I am going to add a bitch link behind the place where the ring hangs so I can use a chain instead of the pin which is sometimes hard to get out and is getting bent from the loads. I know some drivers hitch this way with a chain going back to the vehicle and I could do that also but am musing about an alternate way. I would like to get away from dealing with the long chain when I don’t need it and like the idea of hooking and unhooking right in front of the yoke. Any reason why I would not connect a short chain with a bolt through the pole say a foot back from the stop and when hooking up just reach over an slip that chain through my bitch link?

I hope that is a good idea because that’s the way I have been doing it for years.:)May 8, 2009 at 9:03 am #52223RodParticipantHowie
How far back on the pole do you put the chain?May 10, 2009 at 1:25 am #52225HowieParticipantHow far back you fasten the chain depends on how you have the end in the ring. With the slack taken up you only need about a foot of space back to the point the chain is fastened.
My fore cart tongue is adjustable so I just use the bolt that holds the adjustment to fasten the chain. - AuthorPosts
