I just picked up potato plow from a friend, cheap. It is funny how many things people have put up somewhere but never use. I think it will be great little tool. It is light weight and I think my steers can easily handle it especially by this fall for potato harvest time. My question is about the handles. This one seems to either been modified so that you can walk slightly off center or are they commonly set up like that? Here is a picture of it:

It kinda makes sense to not walk on the row but this one seems like it was bent that way. The other question I have is about the hitch point, which also seem bent. Should I worry about this or just hook the chain to the bend?

Mine is offset, also mine has rods that act like fingers past the plow or on top of the moldboard (don’t know if that is what you call that digging part of the plow) anyway the potatoes and dirt get separated more at the fingers.

I have seen other potato plows with the fingers and it makes a lot of sense. I guess it would be simple enough to add some to this plow but I think I will use it first to see how it performs before modifying it. It is good to know that yours is offset as well.
