My yoke has two rings on the staple. A big and a small. I’ve been searching and can find why or what for. ???

The larger ring is a pole ring to hold up a wagon tongue for instance and hold back the load when you stop. The smaller ring is probably for a chain. The smaller ring is sometimes called a calabash ring or a bitch link and it forged in a way that you can drop a chain link in to pull a load.

I’ve seem the teardrop rings, which would be handy. What you say makes since.
