I just bought a leather harness for the first time, Its from an old timer about 5 miles away my gramp and him knew each other good and I just stumbled across his ad but anyways I wanted to try out a leather harness and I wanted something that had a lot of studs and rings… needless to say dolled up a little. He said its sat for about 4 years but he said its been oiled at least once a year and i think the harness is about 5 or 6 years old, He got it made new and then he lost a horse and then this last year he lost another so hes selling all his stuff. I ended up getting 2 Leather harnesses one is ready to go just a little stiff and the other is a really old one that needs Hames and some repair work.

Now that I got the background story told some what…

what was so great about shorter tugs? I don’t really know if I’ll like them. The newer harness is still really stiff. He had a gallon jug of harness oil and I’ve just been using a brush to put it on cause it needs A LOT of oil in my eyes its not really dry at all and there isn’t any flaws to it besides a few studs missing here and there.

what would a going rate of a leather harness be these days if I would have went to get a new one, Most the people around here are all Nylon, Nylon/ bio mix.

Thanks for the help. I’ll have pics of them posted some time with them on once I get them soften up a bit and fitted to them.
